Appellate Court Case
Dear St. Luke’s family,
At the Annual Meeting I brought you up to date on what was happening with our appeal and whether or not we would receive an official stay of our appeal, meaning that our case would be “frozen”, until the outcome of the St. James Supreme Court case. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on God’s plan) our stay has been denied. I received this information from our attorneys, Daniel Lula and Eric Solhgren, regarding our appeal:
“The Court of Appeals has denied our request that the appeal be stayed pending the outcome of the St. James Supreme Court appeal. No reasons were given for the denial. What this means is that your appeal will proceed, and our opening brief on the merits is due on April 11, 2008.”
***NOTE: The opening brief on the merits of our appellate case has been moved to May 9, 2008.
As always, I want to remind you that this is in God’s hands. He has supplied all our needs (Philippians 4:19) and will continue to do so. Remember that it is the Lord who builds this house (Psalm 127:1).
Please keep this process, our attorneys, and our parish in your prayers. If you feel so led, please contribute towards the Legal Defense Fund.
As we continue in this process, let us remain focused on what our Lord has in store for us as we seek His vision for St. Luke’s.
If you have any questions regarding this, please don’t hesitate to ask any of the Vestry.
Blessings to all,
Debbie Kollgaard

Rector Search Update
On March 17, the Vestry met with the
Search Committee to hear their recommendation for a candidate for
our next Rector. Their enthusiasm and unanimity was inspiring to
hear, and it was encouraging to see God's hand at work in this
search.
The Vestry will now proceed with the next phase of the process. Please keep the Vestry and our candidate in your prayers as together we discern God's will, particularly as we bring the candidate and his family out to meet with the Vestry and visit our town of La Crescenta.
Thank you so much to all who served on the Rector Search Committee.
