Youth Ministries

(Seventh through Twelfth Grades)

For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth.Since my youth, O God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. (Psalm 71:5, 17)

St. Luke’s Youth Ministry exists to foster a community of youth who continually grow in their knowledge and love of God. As followers of Jesus, we together seek to be disciples who truly know Him and can truly make Him known.

This vision manifests itself in several ways for us as a community:
  • We regularly worship together.
  • We “hang out” and laugh together.
  • We study the holy scriptures and learn together.
  • We play ridiculous games together.
  • We pray for one another.
  • We seek to be a natural part of one another’s lives.
Life with the youth at St. Luke’s of the Mountains has many forms…

Youth Sunday School
9:45 to 10:45 a.m. (in the Disciples’ Center)
This is our Sunday morning gathering of the youth of St. Luke’s to learn about the faith, ask questions (lots of questions!), pray, laugh, and become more of a community drawing near to our God. We usually divide the junior high (7th and 8th) and senior high (9th through 12th) into two separate groups.

Grades 6-12 will be taking a break for the summer from their regularly scheduled Sunday School session. Youth Group will continue to meet on Sunday evening. Please Contact Andrew DeFusco with any questions.

Youth Group
6:00 to 7:45 p.m. (at St. Luke’s or 5022 Hook Tree Road, La Canada)
Youth Group is our main weekly gathering. Our nights are unpredictable, but we typically spend time just hanging out, worshipping (often through music), laughing (a lot!), talking about various topics vital to our faith, having fun serving our neighbors, and praying for each other and for the world around us.

Youth Retreats
One of the most important things we do is to periodically retreat from the chaos of the world around us to have time with the Lord and with one another. These retreats can look like anything from a weekend on a challenging ropes course to less structured all-nighters at the church, but no matter what, we always come back refreshed by our time together as a community with the Lord. Please consider joining us as we seek to be transformed.

Random Happenings
In addition to our regular weekly rhythm of youth activity, we run into each other frequently throughout the week:
  • Game nights
  • Meals together
  • Parties
  • Movie-going
  • Coffee-drinking
  • The list goes on…
Please get in touch if you have any questions/comments or if you want to get involved!
